Searching for flower arrangement classes in Hong Kong usually turns up two very different things: a relaxing two-hour bouquet workshop, and a multi-week certificate course. Both are worth doing, but for different reasons. This guide explains the main types of floral classes in Hong Kong, what they cost, and how to choose the right one.

Quick answer: which floral class should I take?

  • Just want to try it, or make a gift? Take a one-day workshop. Most last 2–4 hours, you take your work home the same day, and no experience is needed.

  • Want a recognised qualification, or to freelance or teach? Take a certificate course, such as the Korean IFDA fresh flower course or the Japanese AUBE preserved flower course.

  • Planning weddings or events? Look for a wedding or event styling course that covers arches, hanging installations and table centrepieces.

Fresh, preserved, dried or silk flowers?

  • Fresh flowers: the widest choice of blooms and the most natural feel; used for bouquets, weddings and florist work. Arrangements last days to a couple of weeks.

  • Preserved flowers: real flowers treated to last much longer without water; popular for home décor and gifts.

  • Dried flowers: a rustic, textured look that suits table arrangements and glass domes.

  • Silk flowers: long-lasting and easy to transport; often used for bridal bouquets and wedding décor.

One-day flower workshops at Infleurence

Infleurence runs small-group workshops with a maximum of four students per instructor, taught in Cantonese and English. Flowers, vases and tool loan are included, and you take your piece home the same day. Popular fresh flower options include:

  • Mini fresh flower bouquet (about 2 hours, HK$980): beginner-friendly; learn flower selection, trimming and the spiral technique.

  • Natural-style fresh bouquet (about 3 hours, HK$1,380): more varieties and layered design with double-layer wrapping.

  • Large designer bouquet with styled wrapping (about 4 hours, HK$1,980): for those with some bouquet experience.

  • Korean-style mini bridal bouquet, French-style centrepiece or vase arrangement (about 3 hours each, HK$1,880).

Preserved, dried and silk flower workshops are also available. Two people booking together, or one person booking two or more classes, receive 10% off. See all one-day workshops.

Certificate courses: IFDA and AUBE

IFDA (Korea): Infleurence is an IFDA-accredited classroom in Hong Kong. The IFDA Basic Fresh Floral Design course covers one theory lesson and eight works, including a Korean-style bridal bouquet, flower basket, flower box, hand-tied bouquet with wrapping, French-style centrepiece, flower cake and flower crown. It starts from tool handling and flower care, so complete beginners can follow. Certificates are issued by IFDA in Korea and do not need renewing. After completing both the Basic and Advanced courses, graduates can apply to become an IFDA-accredited classroom.

AUBE (Japan): Infleurence also offers the Japanese AUBE preserved flower course (11 lessons, about 33 hours) for those who prefer long-lasting floral design. Tuition is HK$12,800; the certificate fee is paid directly to the association when you apply for the certificate.

How to choose a floral school in Hong Kong

  1. Who issues the certificate? An international association, a local body, or the studio itself? Is it valid for life?

  2. How big is the class? Floral technique needs hands-on correction; smaller classes help.

  3. What does the fee include? Check for extra charges for flowers, notes, certificates or make-up lessons.

  4. What will you make? Compare the number of lessons, hours and finished works.

  5. Is there support afterwards? Useful if you plan to take orders or open a studio.
